When it is prescribed after a medical screening and administered by a registered nurse using sterile, single-use equipment, IV nutrient therapy is generally well tolerated. Every Pour Wellness booking is reviewed against your intake form before it is confirmed, and vitals are checked before the line is placed. Mild, temporary effects such as a cool sensation along the vein, a metallic taste or slight bruising at the cannula site can occur. Anyone with kidney disease, heart failure, G6PD deficiency, an active infection, or who is pregnant or breastfeeding should not proceed without clearance from their treating doctor.

The only uncomfortable moment is the cannula insertion, which most clients describe as a brief pinch. The infusion itself is painless — you can read, work or sleep through it.

Oral nutrients pass through the gut, where absorption is limited and variable. IV delivery bypasses that step, so plasma levels of nutrients such as vitamin C rise far higher than oral dosing can achieve. That is a delivery advantage, not a claim that IV therapy replaces a good diet or prescribed treatment.

Most clients start with four sessions spaced 10–14 days apart, then move to a maintenance session every four to six weeks. Your clinician will adjust this based on your response, bloodwork if available, and goals.

IV therapy is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with kidney impairment, congestive heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension, G6PD deficiency, certain haemochromatosis or iron-overload conditions, or an active infection. If you take prescription medication, share the full list on your intake form so our clinical team can review interactions.

A licensed physician reviews and approves each intake form before a session is confirmed. Administration is carried out by a registered nurse, with the supervising physician available on call throughout your appointment.

The nutrients used are pharmacy-sourced, CDSCO-approved injectables prescribed for supplementation. Administration is governed by nursing and medical practice standards rather than by a cosmetic-product approval, which is exactly why medical screening and physician oversight are non-negotiable.

Hydration and brightness are often noticeable within a few days of the first session. Collagen-related changes are slower and cumulative — realistically judged after three to four sessions. Results vary between individuals and are not permanent; they are maintained, not bought once.
